New Case Humpback Patterns Splash Into 2009

Bradford, PA (January 15, 2009) – Now celebrating 120 years in 2009, W.R. Case & Sons continues its tradition of reinventing vintage style pocket folders to feed growing interest in the brand. Case’s newest throwback patterns, the Humpback Whittler (‘046WH) and Humpback Stockman (‘046), are sure to make waves from shore to shore.

The new Case Humpbacks’ vintage style designs hearken back to some of the earliest days in American knife making.  Cut swedged Tru-Sharp™ surgical steel blades, nickel silver bolsters, a unique ‘swell bottom’ shape and convenient nail cut outs are among the Humpback patterns’ standard features.

John Sullivan, Case’s Director of Marketing, explains, “Both of our new Humpback patterns are well-equipped for today’s everyday user, but with an antique look, a mystique, that collectors can appreciate, too.”

The new Case Humpback Whittler and Humpback Stockman both measure 3-5/8” when closed.  The Whittler weighs 2.9 ounces, the Humpback Stockman 2.6 ounces.

A Barnboard Jigged Burnt Oatmeal Bone version of the new Humpback Whittler, as well as one with a Smooth Black G-10 handles, and a Rogers Jigged Dark Molasses Bone handled version (which is part of a limited quantity William Russell Case promotional family), are all scheduled to hit dealers’ shelves by June. A Mammoth Ivory handled variation will be available in fall.

The Humpback Stockman will be offered in Genuine Burnt Stag and in Peach Seed Jigged Blue Lagoon Bone handles (as part of Case’s Limited XX Edition Series XXIV family) by June.  A Pocket Worn® Harvest Orange Bone handled version of the Humpback Stockman will be offered in a gift tin package in fall.
