Bradford, PA (May 9, 2006) – W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery Company is pleased to announce the release of a new book, Images of America: W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company.
The book is the work of two longtime Case associates, John Sullivan
and Shirley Boser. Inside, rare photographs chronicle the company’s
history from the birth of the company’s namesake in the mid-1800’s to
the present. A foreward written by former Case Vice President John R.
Osborne, Jr., the last descendant of the Case family to have worked for
the company, prefaces the text. Images of America: W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is available at participating Case Authorized Dealer locations and national bookselling chains.
Tom Arrowsmith, Case President and Chief Executive Officer, says “John
and Shirley’s efforts have brought the people behind Case’s rich
history to life for us and future generations.” The story line,
written by Mr. Sullivan, is supported by more than two hundred images
selected by Ms. Boser. Many of the photographs used in the book were
provided by Case relatives, acquaintances and past and present company
associates. Others were taken from Case’s own historical archives.
The
book’s co-creators are veteran Case associates. John Sullivan joined
the company in 1994 and is Director of Marketing. Historian Shirley
Boser recently celebrated three decades of service with Case. The two
will autograph copies at the Zippo/Case Swap Meet in Bradford,
Pennsylvania on Friday, July 21st, at Red Hill Cutlery in Radcliff,
Kentucky on September 23rd, and at Oakwood Ace Hardware in Flowery
Branch, Georgia on October 21st. Limited edition pocket knives will
also be offered for sale at each book signing event.
The book’s publisher, Arcadia Publishing, who markets several book
series on topics of local history, first learned about Case while
producing a similar book about Zippo Manufacturing Company, Case’s
parent company. Images of America: W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company and Images of America: Zippo Manufacturing Company are both available from national bookselling chains, participating Case Authorized Dealer locations, and online from Barnes & Noble and Waldenbooks.
