Bradford, PA (March 29, 2006) - W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is pleased to announce Richard Lowry of Emporia, Kansas, as the winner of the Case Custom Chopper Sweepstakes. Lowry was randomly selected from over 30,000 entrants in the contest to receive the Chopper, a Case-themed motorcycle designed and crafted by Orange County Choppers™. Case officials traveled to Kansas to present the Chopper to Lowry.
Lowry is a retired railroad conductor who found out about the sweepstakes while looking on the Case website, www.wrcase.com, for a knife. Lowry says he watches the television show American Chopper regularly and has a few older motorcycles. He also owns some Case knives and has a hard time believing that he won the Chopper. “The only thing I ever won was a watermelon,” says Lowry.
Lowry’s entire family was on hand when Case delivered the chopper to his rural home in Kansas. He had been up since 4 a.m. that morning awaiting the chopper and told his son, “I’ll believe it, when I see it.” Lowry is unsure of what his future plans are for the bike.
In addition to the grand prize, Case awarded prize packages to six first place winners. The prize packages included a Case knife, Case Custom Chopper T-shirt, and Case Custom Chopper hat. Those winners were Tommy Henry of Sulphur Springs, TX, Phillip Carroll of Bowdon, GA, Jay Johnson of Cookeville, TN, Betty Allen of London, KY, Patrick Lee of Douglasville, GA and Henry Lindsey of Saraland, AL. Carroll registered for the sweepstakes at the Case Custom Chopper Tour event held at Messer Hardware in Bowdon, GA and Johnson registered at the Highland Hardware Chopper Tour stop in Cookeville, TN. All other winners, including Lowry, entered on the Case website.
The Case Custom Chopper Sweepstakes ended on December 30th, 2005. The entrants were gathered via an online registration on the company’s website, and through a Case Custom Chopper summer tour. The tour made over 70 stops in 17 states at Case Authorized Dealers and other locations. The sweepstakes was designed to help introduce the brand to new consumers. W. R. Case has produced pocketknives for Orange County Choppers™ under an exclusive licensing agreement since 2004.
