Richard “Dick” Skillman
Fabrication
Richard “Dick” Skillman joined Case on September 8, 1965. For most of his tenure, Dick has worked on the fabrication side of the plant, in formation, as a surface grinder, and he was a foreman at the old Russell Boulevard plant. Taper grinding is really Dick’s home though, having spent 29 years there. He enjoys his job at Case because it’s steady, and because Case knives are hand-crafted. Dick often uses Case knives as gifts, and also recalled the time he was lucky enough to find a set of Russell Osborne’s steak knives at a garage sale. A dedicated Associate and skilled grinder for over 41 years, Dick says he’s still “too young for retirement,” although to him, “the years fly by.”
